“Everyone meets people along the way who are a kind of beacon”
For Liz Chermin, member of the Executive Board of the Higher Agricultural School in Den Bosch, developing and learning people is central. She travels with a team, does not just accept the situation as it is, but asks questions to discover whether change and improvement is possible.
Along the way, everyone meets people who are a kind of beacon, Liz calls herself a lucky person because she encounters people at important moments who are a source of inspiration and developments.
“You are always your own handicap and it is mainly a matter of how you deal with it. It is not a bad thing to lean on other people and learn from them to progress in your work”.
As a driver, Liz gives a lot of space and wants to explore the steps together to reach the stop on the horizon. This is how HAS also deals with the effects of COVID on education. Not going back to the ‘old’ normal, but consciously learning from what has been done and taking the good things into the ‘new’ normal.
As a leader you are always learning, always developing and reflecting whether you are doing the right things for the right reason.
