“You never do leadership alone.”

Martin holds a PhD in biologist and after his many years of (policy-related) positions, he is a much sought-after advisor and speaker.

From a young age, Martin felt responsible for the planet, how we as humans treat the earth. This commitment has guided his career.

Martin is convinced that leadership is never done alone. Early on, he sought to connect with his environment in order to move in the right direction together. His vision is that you can never do leadership alone. As far as he is concerned, it requires you to continue working in the same environment for a longer period of time so that you can actually make an impact from and with a network. He compares it with research: “What is going on and what knowledge and information do you need to operate well as a leader? A number of advice he gives are: also use your intuition, do not fall into the trap of control, do not hesitate to change course in the right direction instead of sticking to a course that would ultimately be less effective.

As far as Martin is concerned, as a leader you can really be immodest to celebrate the successes with your team, not only quantitatively, but certainly also qualitatively.

His appeal to young people: “Do something with your leadership talent, the world needs this talent!”
