EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS TOGETHER

I have always enjoyed working with and for people. Over-achieving company goals together, creating moments to remember, support and coach others to become the next generation managers. Not because I was asked to do so, but because I wanted to. To be able to make that little difference, to conjure a big smile on someone’s face! “Exceeding Expectations Together” is my motto in life. Ask the right questions, listening, analyzing and jointly take action until the goal is achieved and after that to put in that additional extra step. Long-term success is only possible if there is a win-win situation between all parties involved. Doing this with integrity, the right focus on the intended end result and respect for each other’s expertise and knowledge, and you will exceed expectations.

People person

Leadership cannot be described in a sentence. Every company requires a different type of leader(-ship) depending on the internal and external circumstances, which makes this profession so versatile. I love to look into the different kitchens and to think along about the complexity of a crucial position. It is customization – a matter of precision which requires expertise from the industry and the necessary attention to the human factor. It is often not only about the skills, experience and expertise of a candidate, but also about the questions: “Who are you?” and “What makes you unique?”

I have been working in the hospitality sector for a couple of decades and everything revolves around and for people. The great thing about this industry is that no two days are the same. As a people-manager (green is my color), I led various senior management and executive positions in the past within the (international) hotel industry, theme parks and exhibition centers. It never gets boring and it gives me energy daily! The more complex the question, the more enthusiastic I become.

Family, independence and creativity are important elements to me. I largely raised my two children on my own, in addition to managing a busy business. By doing so, I have acquired independence and perseverance. These characteristics in combination with my creativity ensure that I will be pushed forward regularly whenever a challenging assignment is on the table.

No nonsens

In my way of working, I am pragmatic, and I quickly switch between strategic thinking and operations. My career started in operations and I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degree part-time alongside my work. From this point of view, I realize that a strategy can only be successfully rolled out if it can also be achieved operationally. As my patience is not infinite, I am quite hands-on. This is also due to my Twente roots – “It’s a matter of just doing” is the saying over here. Do not make things harder than they are and communicate clearly, so that everyone understands what you mean. It makes life less complicated.
